Importance of Coconut in Hinduism
We offer coconuts to the Gods in rituals, which are conducted with a specific intention. The coconut is a symbol of fertility, and an integral part of many Hindu rituals. It is believed that there are four main reasons for this:
- it signifies the universe and its elements;
- it provides sustenance to all lifeforms;
- it’s seen as a symbol of Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth;
- it’s an emblem of knowledge.
